Our fantastic Christmas tree

Today our tree was decorated with our amazing reindeer. We are extremely proud of our efforts.
We invite you to vote for us at the Waimakariri District Council offices this week. Our tree is number 13. We know you will be impressed.

Ferrymead Trip

Today we stepped back in time to the 1950s and 1960s.  We dressed up in the clothing that some of our grandparents would have worn to school when they were children. We looked gorgeous! 

We enjoyed watching tv in black and white, listening and dancing to the music played on old LP records and playing with the toys and games that the children would have played  with for entertainment . We even made lolly cake using some of the technology from the 50s and 60s.  It was much harder than when we make it at home now!  Check out the slideshow below for some photos of this fabulous day!

Decorations for the tree to raise money for charity.

We have been invited to decorate a tree that will be on display at the Waimakariri Council offices. The tree is to help fundraise for two charities. CCS Disability Action and Victim Support North Canterbury.

What do you think of our cool idea to recycle coffee cups?

Tanya came up with the idea and she came into our class today to help us.
Shiloh came too. Shiloh, who was once a Room 6 student, is now at high school.
Thank you to you both.
We have one more step to finish them off. Yes you guessed! The eyes.
Once we have finished them we will decorate a tree donated by the shops in Good Street.
This tree will be on display at the Waimakariri Council offices.

Athletics Practice

On Friday we have our Junior Athletics day.
We have practiced a lot.
These photos show us practicing with the sports guys.

We jumped the hurdles and we used bean bags to help with our discus and shot put.

Remember to use sun block and sun hats on the field on Friday November 9th.
We hope parents and grandparents come to watch us in action.
Our athletics begin at 10.00 a.m. and finish around 12.15 p.m.

Do you know any animals that can walk upside down?

On Friday we read poems and sang songs about spiders.  We were really interested in how spiders can walk upside down!   

What other insects can walk on ceilings and walls?  Take a walk around your house, can you find any?  There is a a small reptile that can walk upside down . See if you can find out what it is?

Lesley visited again today.

When Lesley visits we always learn something new about recycling.

Today she taught us how to make flowers out of old newspaper or chip packets.
We found it quite tricky. Once we really knew what to do we helped each other.

Look through the window. What do you see?

 Today we enjoyed reading the story Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell.  We know lots of animals that can be found in the zoo and predicted nearly all of the ones found in the story!  Pop into our classroom and check out these cool pictures and rhymes that we wrote about zoo animals. We are learning to use great adjectives to make our sentences more interesting.  Well done Room 6!

Susie came again today.

She told us about Henri Matisse a famous French artist.

We created gardens using collage techniques.

Welcome to Term 4

A warm welcome back to school. We have a very busy 9 weeks ahead of us.
Rocco joined our class today.
We know you will love being in our room Rocco.

 Now we are 19. My how we have grown!

Pyjamas in the pool!

What fun at the pool today.
As it was our last swimming lesson we had fun wearing our pyjamas in the water.

We were told what to do if we were in the water with clothes on!

Cricket!

Today we had a cricket skills session with the North Canterbury Cricket team.
It was great fun and we learnt a lot. Our listening was superb.

We can enrol for Summer cricket if we wish.

There is a form in our bags to fill out if we want to play.

On Monday we say hello to Erin who will be joining our class.

Erin has come from Ireland. We know you will enjoy our school.

Our Ashley Showcase

Thank you all so much for your help with costumes and props.
The show wouldn't have been possible without your continued support.
I was so proud of all the children and especially the Room 6 and 7 children.

Marvellous Monday...

Every Monday Mrs. Treacy comes to our class during reading and writing time.
We have two teachers working in Room 6 then. Mrs Robinson says we are very lucky!
