Autumn

Autumn has arrived so today we had fun with paint and corks.

Fun with leaves too.

We made delicious pikelets too.

Always fun on Friday!

Creativity...

We have been experimenting with our paints.

We have dabbed with sponges and blobbed paint onto our paper.

We had help to cut out the shapes.

The sparkly pipe cleaners are so cool.

We took our work to assembly today and the whole school clapped and clapped.

Always something special at Discovery time.

Fresh fruit Friday. 

Everyone came with fruit for us to talk about and sample.

Some pretty strange ones too!

Fruit with wrinkly skin and prickly skin.

Yummy paw paw and melons.

Coconuts for us to check out the milk and flesh.

Apples and Nashi pears.

We made kebabs.

We tried things we had not tasted before.

That's the Ashley way! 

Give new things a try!

There were other fun things to do today.

Some of us made aliens.

A really popular idea was to make our own marble run.

If we were focussed, and made a super example, we got to keep the marble that we used.

Mrs. Robinson loves marbles and has a bag with 102 in it!

Fitness fun...

Every Thursday morning we go out and join Room 7 for fitness. 

This time we jumped into shapes that we are learning about. 

We had to check how many sides and call out the shape name.

Look at us go!

You are good role models and help us to remain focussed and listen carefully to all the instructions. 

The team leaders are awesome.

Welcome Zoe

Now we are twelve!

Zoe arrived today and is already working hard.

Another fun Friday.

Claire came again today to help us learn to count to five in Mandarin.

Today we had an extra surprise as Claire and Luci also showed us how to make sushi.

Great fun and really delicious.

Eden and Riley arrived with their own ideas for discovery time.

We like it when children come up with such good ideas.

We also made discoveries about things that are absorbent.

  

Later in the morning we put on our white hats again to talk about the things we know about elephants.

We learnt a new poem too.

   

When we made our expanded giraffe drawings last week we thought we would try again with elephants!

We used special artists pencils when we tried to gently shade the elephants body.

We are really proud of our work.

We created speech bubbles to describe some of the elephants.

We are worker bees!

We welcome Matthew to our class.

He is five today! Happy Birthday to you.

During Reading time we all work very well together.

Sometimes when we are finished we use the laptops to practice our phonics.

Terrific Tuesday

We were so excited this morning when we checked the chrysalis. 

It was black!

Later we found this had happened...

We are continuing to watch closely and wait while the wings dry.

Now have a look at this great story writing.

We are writing more than one sentence and adding extra detail.

What will dissolve?

During our Discovery session today 

we checked out a few things to see what would dissolve!

This was a really popular discovery time idea.

Later in the morning we talked a lot about POPCORN.

We discovered quite a lot about the kernels and how they react to heat.

Very tasty too.

We thought about how the popcorn smells, sounds, feels, looks and tastes.

We added a little salt to taste and then icing sugar.

Yum! Yum! Yum!
