What will dissolve?

During our Discovery session today 

we checked out a few things to see what would dissolve!

This was a really popular discovery time idea.

Later in the morning we talked a lot about POPCORN.

We discovered quite a lot about the kernels and how they react to heat.

Very tasty too.

We thought about how the popcorn smells, sounds, feels, looks and tastes.

We added a little salt to taste and then icing sugar.

Yum! Yum! Yum!

Busy, busy fun days at school.

We are learning about so many different things.

Claire and Luci are teaching us how to speak Mandarin.

Claire comes every Friday. 

So far we know how to say hello, thank you, Mum, Dad and I love you.

Today Sarah arrived with two chrysalises.

We will watch them closely to discover what happens next.

At the Discovery area we have things that may  spin.

Will they all spin?

We are checking it out.

Our white hats were on today when we discussed Giraffes.

We know quite a lot.

We enjoyed our poem too.

We used a photo of a giraffe to expand upon.

So you see we are involved in so many different activities.

We are enjoying everything.

Floating and Sinking...

Discovery time today was interesting.

We sorted things that we think will float or sink.

Water went everywhere!  

Later at Language Experience time we talked about yachts.

We made a yacht full of adjectives.

Check out our yachts.

We used driftwood for the hull and mast.

Our sails are coloured brightly using our drawing pencils and crayons.

We put them in the water tray to see if they would float.

Success!

What a brilliant morning!

Learning Basic Words

We have been using our magic word wands to find words we are learning.

We are all getting very good at finding words we are focussed on.

Now we are 10

We welcome Sarah to our class.

Magnetism and Spiders today

In our discovery area we have set up a collection of items for us to decide if they are magnetic or not magnetic.

During our Discovery time today we also had some fun choices.

Later during our Language Experience time we looked at Incy Wincy Spider.

Our spiders look great.

Then we used our white hats to make a list of facts about spiders.

Beach Education at Waikuku beach.

The Waikuku Lifeguards talked to us about being sun smart and keeping safe in the water.

Fern was dressed as a Lifeguard!

We checked out the life raft.

We played in the sand.
